For the first time in VVBC history we are completely opening our hearts to Devi, lovingly and humbly asking Her to take center stage so that we may better understand ourselves and the world around us.
Vyasa's Devi Bhagavatam

What Makes Devi the Need of the Time?
The Devi Bhagavatam begins with the most illustrious men of their age, terrified of entering Kali Yuga—an era when greed, dominance, and injustice rule the day. Sound familiar? The salve for their terror comes in the form of a sage storyteller who delivers the Devi Purana to them. Hearing about the deeds and characteristics of Devi soothes their minds, bodies and spirits, transforming fear into wisdom.
At a time when so much change and destruction seems to be adding stress to the collective, I invite you to gather 'round the metaphorical fire and let yourself be carried away by the thrilling, sensual, awe-inspiring, sometimes funny and bizarre stories of Mother Divine and Her infinite expressions.
Devi delivers what you need most whether that's courage and confidence, balance and inner peace, abundance and joy, or the gentle correction that dissolves ignorance, arrogance, and pride.
Reading Devi Bhagavatam has the potential to expand awareness and consciousness. Reading these stories with a group of curious and brilliant minds from all over the world who are mining each tale for hidden gems, laughing together at Devi's cosmic humor, and discovering insights that emerge only in community, this is how transformation occurs.
Perfect for both newcomers to Vedic literature and experienced practitioners ready to dive deeper.

Why read Devi Bhagavatam?
-
It's a unique opportunity to get to know Devi as Supreme Being; Creator, Sustainer, and merciful Destroyer.
-
Gain a clearer understanding of what feminine consciousness is, what It does, and how It expresses Itself.
-
Get to know the essential qualities of Nature known as the three gunas through multiple examples which we'll workshop together.
-
Claim this exploration as an opportunity to enliven or adjust your personal relationship with Devi.
Each individual's relationship to Divine Mother is unique and distinct by Her own design; She will be the Mother each one of us needs Her to be which will change and evolve as we change and evolve. Change is Her divine Nature and when we lovingly and joyfully embrace change, we are in essence throwing our loving arms around Mother Divine.

A Love Letter
Dear One,
That your eyes have found these words means that Divine Mother is already playing with us. The story of how you and I, along with beautiful souls across the world, will spend nine glorious weeks together being positively dazzled by Devi is already written.
We've already shared our laughs and tears.
Already been completely deluded and delighted by Devi.
Already realized that Devi is every syllable, the breath that supports them, the space dividing them, the Intelligence directing the sequence.
We've already discovered that anyone who's ever created anything, which is everyone, is Mother.
She's so playful! Our work together is yet to begin and already complete all at once.
And now we get to do the most fun part...experience it in real time.
Until November, when we step into what's already written.
With Love & Jai Guru Deva,
Jamey
Why Ramesh Menon's translation?
Menon's translation reads like juicy fiction. He is truly a gifted storyteller with apparent devotion to his subject. His ability to vividly paint a picture with text gives us our best opportunity to appreciate and absorb multiple layers of meaning while enjoying the glorious drama as it unfolds.
Devi: The Devi Bhagavatam Retold by Ramesh Menon

Veda Vyasa Book Club (VVBC) is the international book club devoted to developing consciousness through Vedic literature. VVBC is for Vedic meditators who are curious about reading Vedic literature and want to do it in an environment in which a deep and nuanced understanding of the material is not only encouraged, but inevitable.
The Itihasa and Puranas are approached with a great deal of enthusiasm, giving members permission to completely, fully, and unabashedly "nerd out."
VVBC is more akin to an in depth course of study than a casual book club and sets the stage for personal growth, Self-discovery, and evolution.
Guided by me, Jamey Hood, a certified meditation teacher based in Venice, CA, and Vedic literature guide. Our meetings are joyful, meaningful, personal, and fun.
